The historic building maintains it's age and charm, with a bright, sunny and beautiful breakfast room. The updated boutique property still feels like the chic mountain resort that it has been for many years, although it is relatively petite and intimate compared to sprawling resorts of today. The weekend breakfast offerings were plentiful and delicious. As the breakfast is served on weekends only, on Monday I ventured out on foot down into the village of Bad Salzig to find a local bakery that was recommended to me by the owner (lovely 5 minute walk), and we enjoyed our pastries and coffee in our room on our sunny balcony. Comfortable chairs with tables outside for guests (on the ground floor, both in the shade and full sun) offer another lovely seating option for lounging, eating, relaxing, etc... surrounded by flowers and beautiful landscaping. Our hosts, the owner Jo, and the hotel staff, went above and beyond to make sure we felt welcome and informed about our rooms, the hotel, the breakfast and the area. Jo paused his gardening to help us to our room upon arrival (carrying my heavy suitcase up the stairs, thankfully) and showed us the features of our room in person."
