It is very far from everything so you really need a car. This is a great place to use as a home base to go and explore many places around the island. We visited a nice winery and took a day trip to Matala. The pool was very refreshing at the end of the day. You can arrange with the hotel to be dropped off at monastery and then you hike back thru gorgeous paths and gorges. Breathtaking views and private. The staff at the hotel offered world class service and attention. They were wonderful and so easy to talk to and happy to assist with any request. The breakfast was a bounty of delicious fresh locally-sourced healthy foods. Overall, this was an unbelievable experience. This hotel should be in everyone’s bucket list.
