Local products can be purchased at the souvenir shop and relaxing massages can be requested for extra costs. A karaoke room and ski storage is available. Traditional multi-course meals are served for dinner and a Japanese set-menu for breakfast. All meals are served at the dining room. - "Guests will receive a warm welcome from Akira-San at the Yudanaka Onsen Yamazakiya, a Ryokan which has been run by the same family for three generations in the main street of the Shibu-Onsen village. The Ryokan is very well-managed and efficient, with two spa rooms and a restaurant on site. As a traditional Ryokan rooms are carpeted with spotless tatami throughout and toilet facilities are shared, but also spotless, and are separate from washing and onsen spa bathing rooms. Bedrooms equipped with floor-sleeping futons are large and in winter well heated with an electric stoves. The day starts early with a traditional healthy Japanese breakfast prepared by Akira-San and his family. Akira Yamazaki is a helpful and gracious host, who also makes excellent coffee. We highly recommend a stay at Yudanaka Onsen Yamazakiya for an authentic experience of traditional Japanese hospitality. We will certainly return! Shibu Onsen village is a picturesque street lined with older Ryokan, restaurants, and bars. The local restaurants have an excellent range of local food, but bring plenty of cash as it's mostly a cash-only town and we did not see an international ATM. A coin laundry is located a 10-minute walk away from the Ryokan towards the train station along the main riverside road. The prices are ¥500 for a small wash, ¥100 for 10 minutes of drying time, and ¥100 for soap. A public bus serves the town area and monkey park, but everything (except the monkey park) is within a fairly convenient walking distance. The Yudanaka train station is only 5 minutes away from Shibu Onsen by bus, costing ¥210. Alternatively, it takes 25 minutes to walk there. English information about local buses and trains is available from the helpful Yudanaka station staff. Wake up early to visit the snow monkeys before the arrival of out-of-town tour groups. The Snow Monkey Pass sold by Dentetsu Railway doesn’t offer great value unless you arrive very early on the first day of the two-day ticket."

- "Excellent staff, beautiful room and view. Absolutely FABULOUS outdoor hot spring in the room. Food was included and it was delicious." - "the design, the food, the service, the spacious room, the private onsen tub. what a delight of a hotel" - "Wow if you are looking for a luxury Japanese experience, this is it!! Our stay was exceptional from the get go. The traditional welcome was set in an beautiful historic house set apart from the hotel which was rather a surprise for us as we thought we had been taken to the wrong place. We were given champagne and oyaki cakes while the host explained our stay. Then a short walk (or they can shuttle you) up through the beautiful streets of Asama Onsen. The hotel itself is next level! Beds were so comfortable, snacks and cold drinks available 24/7, and the onsen on the deck was just divine. The bookshop/library is absolutely incredible. The breakfast and dinner is included -Not that we didn't like it as was a great experience and fabulously done on an open fire in restaurant - the food is very traditional so come with open mind and give it a go!! Hotel is situated outside of main central city so you do need to taxi to places which didn't bother us as was so worth it. Highly recommend. Was such a highlight of our trip."

The hosts were excellent and accommodating, and are always there to provide help if needed. The rooms are exceptionally clean as well as the facilities. The continental breakfast was always a perfect way to start the day." - "Our stay at Lodge Seizan was beyond expectations. The tranquil mountainside view from our room was matched with comfy and thick futons to rest in. The staff Shoko and her husband Hayato are ski and snowboard instructors, respectively, and answered any questions we had with passion. They prepared the breakfast room daily with cereal, bread, a variety of spreads and tea + coffee. To add, on the third day they offered to change our bedding and towels. Shoko also does a yoga class at the lodge and Hayato can be seen clearing out fresh snow in the powdery mornings. The lodge was less than a 5 minute walk to the main gondola and we were given a discount to one of the ski shops close by. The included drying room was a great addition to the lodge, as each new day we woke up to our gear snow-free and ready to go! Being able to get down from a day tumbling in the snow, take off my gear, then head straight to the bath was a feeling of bliss and relaxation that can't be beaten. Overall, I highly recommend anyone looking for a cozy, carefree and magical experience to book for Lodge Seizan. I would love to be there for seasons to come. Thanks for having us!"

This was the best and kindest customer service we have ever received. Once there, we were impressed by the incredible meals (both dinner and breakfast)! Impeccable detail, delicious flavor, beautiful presentation and a wonderful variety of local foods. This was one of our favorite meals ever (and we have eaten in some special places). After dinner we were able to enjoy a private onsen — one for my husband and me, one for the three teenagers.
