We also stayed in the financial district near Coal Harbour. Coal Harbour is lovely and well worth a visit to walk along the sea wall into Stanley Park, with nice bars and restaurants on the waterfront. I preferred the location of hotel Blu to staying in the financial district, but both are nice areas with lots of good restaurants, and both felt safe. One area I would avoid staying or going to is Gastown. It's not worth visiting, and when we did, it stank of urine, and there were dozens of homeless/drug users around. I'm so pleased that we didn't stay near Gastown."
