This meant that the silence was exceptional and we enjoyed being woken up by bird song. The view of the other islands from the patio was one of the highlights, and having small fridge and coffee and tea making facilities a real bonus. Travelling there out of season probably helped to enhance the sense of tranquility, but meant we weren't able to make the most of the outdoor bathtub which must quite the treat during warmer months."

Ben, who spoke many different languages, greeted us and started us off with an espresso while taking us up to this amazing hilltop view overlooking the ocean and the wonderful city of Lipari. His introduction of the hotel was well planned, noting the countless ammendities and services offered by the hotel. If you need to rent a scooter, car, boat excursion, or make dinner reservations(with free shuttle), they do it all right at the resort. Ben went the extra mile to surprise my wife with a large bouquet of Lillies for the room to help celebrate our wedding anniversary. Breakfast was served on a terrace overlooking the city with amazing food and staff to attend to your needs. If you just want to relax, there is an infinity pool at the top of the resort with breathtaking views and outstanding food and drink service. The walk into town is about 10 minutes or a taxi can quickly be arranged by the hotel if needed . The port is close and allows for spontaneous ferries for island hopping, but we found Lipari to be our favorite. We closed our trip at the restaurant Al Panorama, overlooking the island of Vulcano at sunset. The view from here can not be beaten, and the hotel provided a free shuttle here as well. All of the staff at the resort were very helpful and courteous, making lasting memories for 2 Americans on their first trip to Europe. Dont miss out on this hidden gem."

Hotel Villa Diana is a small hotel, first opened in 1950 by the Swiss painter Edwin Hunziker and surrounded by a large garden of citrus trees and olives. The hotel was born from the skillful renovation of an ancient renovated and enlarged farmhouse which is spread over four levels which are not exactly superimposed and connected by large stone stairs equipped with appropriate iron handrails, which fit nicely into the typically Eolian architecture of the hotel and in the garden. Today, it still belongs to the artist's family, who run it with the same spirit of simple and warm hospitality as its founder. The Hotel Villa Diana offers panoramic views of Lipari from its quiet and romantic terraces, thanks to a small, slightly sloping street, which simultaneously allows you to enjoy the proximity to the town center. The staff are incredible and go above and beyond and are always around to answer questions and help where they can. I had the single room which was perfect for a solo traveller and my garden looked out to Stromboli which was just magical in the mornings and evenings. The cleanliness of my room was exceptional and tidied everyday with new towels and bedding. They also did my laundry for free which was very appreciated. The hotel facilities are great including a hot tub on the terrace of the hotel overlooking the island and volcano Stromboli in the distance. The lovely kind I think his name was Juliano offers free shuttle transfer to and from the port in Lipari, he kindly picked me up in the afternoon when I arrived and on my departure took me to my new hotel in Lipari centre which the new hotel wanted to charge me 15 euros for picking up from the port despite it being a few streets away! Juliano from La Zagara hotel also let me jump in the car in the mornings to the port during his shuttle transfers when I was going to visit the other islands by Hydrofoil which saved me money and getting the bus! I could not recommend this place more, such a pleasant experience and absolutely will be coming back! Thank you all."
