The River Kwai bridge and train trip are, naturally, really touristy. If you want some peace with your history and are fairly fit - walk the Hellfire Pass trail. Well worth it."

A short walk from the bridge and the train station (the stop after Kanchanaburi when coming from Bangkok). It was easy to get a tuk tuk to the town centre or bikes were available from the hotel. The setting of the hotel was amazing. We loved spending time at the restaurant, on the terrace or at the pool , all overlooking the river. Very tranquil. Delicious food both at breakfast, when there were so many choices, and at other mealtimes. Our room was small but had everything we needed. The staff were kind and attentive."
