Set off a cliff (the lobby is on the 3rd level), the cliff face is lushly landscaped with trees and plants growing among a few large Ghibli-esque statues. The public areas are wonderful with glass panels allowing viewing of the "Ghibli" landscape on the cliff side and offering open views of the ocean on the other side. The resort is carefully built around mature banyan trees and is entirely constructed out of natural wood, limestone and marble. The open air baths are a major delight - very private with the outdoor bath, great views of the sea and deck chairs for restful and quiet contemplation. Each bath pavilion is individually named, with the Kanji character for "Hermitage" which is both quaint and apt. The food is excellent - the intricate Kaiseki style dinners are the highlight of the day. Hyakuna has staff speaking fluent English which is a major convenience for foreign guests. We hardly ventured out of the resort during the 3 days there. Overall we appreciated the peace, quiet and solitude - even though the resort was probably well booked during our stay."
