- "Quirky! Very warm and cosy." - "Breakfast was excellent" - "Mowbray Suite! Romantic" - "The room was beautiful and very luxurious with comfy bed and good shower, the room does lack any hooks to hang anything on, and although there is rail, there were only 3 coat hangers" - "Staff very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was excellent." - "Dinner was excelkent Rooms were great" - "We had The Lacey attic room which is not at all suitable for persons of our age(82/75). The bed had two step boards round it which were very difficult to negotiate and no space at the end of the bed to use to exit for the bathroom. The only way to exit was to crawl over the bottom of the bed. Maintenance is also required on the 2 squeaky doors within this room. We feel prospective clients should be made aware of the bed situation at the time of booking."

- "Grounds were beautiful! Lots to see and do." - "The breakfast was amazing" - "Amazing building, great facilities" - "I absolutely loved this hotel. I was completely amazed by it’s beauty, the gardens, the maze, the pond it is just so English Countryside romantic. I came alone for a little solo retreat and I couldn’t have chosen a better spot. I’m from London and just wanted somewhere not too far, but for it to feel like I have escaped the city. And that’s exactly what I got. There are a few restaurants on the premises, I didn’t dine in the Michelin star one, as it was a bit of a stretch for a solo money wise. I had dinner at the Grill, I got the duck and thought it was a delicious and interesting plate. I also had fish and chips for lunch on the terrace which was great, and a club sandwhich on the last day which I found a bit dry and not easy to eat as it was built on layers of sourdough. But the food was overall really good. The pool area I used a lot, I had come to relax for the bank holiday weekend. The weather was extremely warm and the pool was heated at around 30 degrees which really didn’t make sense (sustainability and enjoyment wise) so not sure why it hadn’d been switched off. The pool is quite large and surrounded by deck chairs which are quite budget and worn down, so I suggest that this is upgraded for a proper 5* experience. Another area of improvement I reccommend is quicker drink/food service. It took a very long time for the drinks to arrive every day I was at the pool. I even saw people cancel them once they have arrived because by the time they did arrive, they had to leave. I think a better system/more staff need to be resourced so this can run smoothly. Also, I think letting the public use the pool area isn’t a great decision for a 5* hotel. As it was the bank holiday the pool area was completely taken over by non-hotel guests. This definitely takes away the exclusive feel and is a big part of why guests pay 5* rates to stay there. The room (I got an upgrade which I’m very thankful for) was lovely, spacious and I was overall very satisfied with it."
